Emily at Zip Zap has worked with me to get the vintage horseshoe cut I want that sets perfectly with pin curls. I followed her from B Parlor where she was before. I am also in a wheelchair and disabled and she is very helpful and accommodating for me in ways a lot of people just aren't sensitive to. She has been so helpful and kind and is always very professional.
My only complain about Zip Zap is that the bathroom is tricky for a wheelchair user (barely fits, and if you need to slide to transfer its a no-go (you have to park in front of the toliet and flip around past the sink).

Avoid this place. Got the worst haircut of my life for the same price as other high end salons of SF. It doesn’t even have proper lighting let alone good stylists.

Highly recommend this place ! Anna was so good and meticulous with my highlights process. She explained all the products that were used on me and also gave me tips on how to maintain my hair post the session.

Anna Scott doesn't know what she's doing. I communicated to her in great detail what kind of blowout I wanted and what my hair is like. But apparently this is her idea of a blowout: frizzy, scraggly, stiff, heavy, jumbled. I could've just let it air dry and saved $85. She was obviously in a rush and didn't care.

Before the haircut even started the “hair stylist” was late. Then they couldn’t give me any direction. I tried to show pictures but they seemed bothered by the suggestions. I was asking for feedback or ideas but I was ignored until I was ask. “How much do you want to take off.?” I left was something that I had to take home and fix myself. Just be mindful if you go here you might have to seek another haircut elsewhere.

I was in SF for a short-term consulting gig and needed a haircut, but couldn't get home to see my regular stylist. I looked around for a salon and found Zip Zap. Then, lucky day!, stylist Rachel had an opening. In all seriousness I think this is the best haircut I've ever had. Rachel was so careful and collaborative and gave me some great advice on products and styling. Also, she's just super fun to spend time with. I would 100% recommend.

Review is a little late but got a great haircut from Tania. My hair is thick and long. She was the first stylist who knows how to cut layers and leave length with it being u up even looking. Will go back.

Kara A. works magic, not just skill and talent. She deftly styles and cuts hair, and recently I walked out of the salon with an amazing hairstyle - short and sassy, just in time for the new school year. Let me tell you, menopause is no joke. But what she has done with my graying, frizzy hair goes beyond the capability of any mere human. I feel confident, ready to take on anything, just with this amazing hairstyle. Kara took time to listen to me, and offered her vision by making sure she repeated what I'd said, and also included some newer styling points to try. There are two takeaways to this review: (1) Make an appointment NOW with Kara A. (2) Kara is a magical being.

I thought about trying this salon out but I am disappointed with my haircut. I had asked for a very simple haircut almost a trim. It was done by Anna Scott. It looked ok there but when I got back home, I found it uneven and it looked bad on the ends, as if I had cut it myself. Seriously, I am not sure how I can call this a professional haircut in any sense. The left and right don't match and my hair look botched. We put so much trust into the hairstylist when we get our hair done that anything like this is heartbreaking. She seemed to know what she was doing so I am surprised it the turned out bad.
It is very sad and disappointing. It made me cry. I would mostly expect perfection if they are charging 100+. I totally want my money back. Wont be returning. I might have to go to another salon to get this fixed. :( Never have I gotten a haircut that is bad to this degree. It's awful. If you don't know how to cut hair, then don't do it and ruin someone's hair.
Avoid this place. There are better places in San Francisco that charge the same but are cleaner and offer better services and won't ruin your hair.

Tania Tucciarone is a wizard when it comes to hair color!
I have fragile thin Easter European hair that has turned a darker and darker blonde, and Tania magically illuminates and lightens it without damage or gross yellowing.
My cuts and color look so natural that even when I don’t retouch the highlights for six months, my hair looks natural - like I went to Hawaii a few months ago and the sun kissed locks are growing out.
Highly recommend.

I had a cut and color with Anna Scott who is charming and interesting and who took extra time with me to get everything just perfect. It was our first time working together so it took a few tries to get the color exactly the way I wanted it but I walked out of there with beautiful, shiny, natural looking honey blonde hair exactly the way I wanted it. The color I walked out with was a much better color than the color I'd previously had. I definitely recommend Anna for both cut and color. I couldn't be happier.

Rachel does the best hair and color!!! I’ve been going to her for almost 10 years. She is a color wizard. From a pixie, to extensions, to long, she always knows what she’s doing. Any time I’ve ventured to a different salon, I always end up back in her chair. She also has become a dear friend and has great conversational skills. You can tell she truly cares about her clients.

I almost never do reviews but I had to for this service. (Men Haircut) First time getting a haircut in San Francisco and to be honest, it was the best haircut I had...ever! Landis was not only extremely talented, she was precise and made attention to every details while doing the work, I was impressed. Normally you get a haircut and you feel like you are just a number (if you are not a regular), well Landis made me feel like she cared and I know she did.
When I come back San Francisco, I'm getting an appointment again with Landis for sure.

Literally the worse scheduling experience I've ever had with a barber or a salon. I get that it's common to run late and even have the occasional cancellation, but this was truly ridiculous.
We scheduled a pair of appointments, same day, one after the other. When we show up, they tell us that the 2nd appointment because the stylist is taking some time off. Ok, fine, but if they're going to cancel, maybe you could've called us to tell us they cancelled?
Then, after waiting around for a bit, they ask the stylist (same one for both) what they want to about running an hour (!!!) late, if we want to stay for one the appointments (since the other one is definitely cancelled) or reschedule.
I get that things run late, but given that we had literally just scheduled the appointment on the phone before heading over, couldn't they have told us that they were an hour behind and just scheduled the "first" appointment for an hour later and not scheduled the "second" one because the styling was "taking some time off"? I don't really see how this could make sense unless they bumped us for someone else. If they didn't, their service really sucks. If they did, well, their service really sucks.
To top it all off, this was during Pride weekend, so we had to fight through a huge crowd and wait for a delayed Muni to even get there.

I really like this place! It’s beautiful, clean, and as quiet as a hair salon can be. I enjoy the products they use and the fact that they don’t smell overwhelming. All staff members have been friendly and welcoming to me. Everything is perfect.

Was going to SF to visit friends and decided to go for a big city hair cut while I was there. Found Zip Zap online, read some reviews, and booked an appointment on line with Song. What a moment of genius!
Best haircut I have had in years!!!! Really nice place and friendly staff. And as for Song...she really knows what she is doing. She listened to what I was asking for and really delivered. I have a great new cut that is easy to style and looks awesome. Do yourself a favor and make the appointment.

I have curly/wavy hair, and for some reason it's not so easy to get a decent haircut at a reasonable price. But I was VERY happy with the haircut I got from Eddy. My girlfriend loves it and says it's the best haircut she's seen on me (and we've been dating for more than a year). I'd say it's the best in years. He's a nice guy too. Not cheap but not nearly as expensive as many haircuts are in SF. Give Eddy a visit!
