I decided to treat myself and get a blow out last minute the day before New Year’s Eve!
I have thick curly hair that is not very easy to blow out, so I wasn’t expecting much, but Patricia blew my mind!! Her welcoming personality me feeling comfortable from the start. She did a great job washing my hair, which is always a plus. Most stylists don’t clean the root of my hair well. She then dried and styled my hair, taking her time to work her magic. I walked out feeling so happy with my hair and her service. I’d definitely recommend Patricia and look forward to seeing her again soon.

I’ve been coming to this salon every time I’m in San Francisco for a meeting, and it’s always been my go-to spot. Unfortunately, my most recent experience didn’t meet the usual standards. I had a blowout with Angelica, but the entire appointment, which was supposed to be an hour, felt rushed and lasted only 35 minutes—including the shampoo and styling with round brush. While I appreciate efficiency, the result wasn’t what I expected. The frizz wasn’t fully smoothed out, and my hair fell flat within an hour.
I did share some feedback with Angelica, but she mentioned she had another client waiting right after me, which made me feel a bit brushed off. Aileen, however, was incredibly kind and tried to help during the touch up, but the salon seemed so tightly booked that it didn’t leave much room for proper attention.
There was also a mix-up with the weekday discount—I didn’t get it applied at checkout, and when I called back, Angelica said I hadn’t mentioned it. She promised to check with the manager and get back to me, but I never heard anything. That part was particularly frustrating since I’ve always appreciated the professionalism here.
I’ve noticed some of the stylists I loved working with in the past are no longer here, which may be part of why things felt off this time. I still believe in this salon’s potential and hope they can address these issues because I’d love to keep coming back.

I booked my appointment with Ada but my stylist got switched after she finished washing my hair because another client wanted her to do their makeup. I am sad that my stylist was switched because Ada seams great.

As a full time student, I’m so glad I found Blowology last year. If you’re a student living on campus in the city, you know that the water system in the student dorms is not great and can really damage your hair if you’re not careful. That’s one of the major reasons why I went on a hunt for a hair salon and I knew I found my ideal hair place at my very first appointment here. The health and integrity of my hair has improved so much ever since I started doing weekly signature blowouts and gloss treatments. Everyone here is just amazing and you can really tell that they’re passionate about what they do. Also, the location is great and the salon/spa has a nice cozy decor with a subtle hint of old Hollywood glam vibe!

I've been here 3-4 times, but never feel like they 100% nail it on my Asian hair in terms of matching the photo inspo (loose curls) or hold (last time came out within an hour). It ends up not looking very different than when I do it myself. There are a few up-charges which they explain ahead of time (i.e., an extra $10 for roller setting), but they also offer a free touch up within 3 days which is awesome. The best parts are the friendly stylists, cool space, ease of online booking and convenient location.

Came here to get my hair styled for a formal event and was very happy with the service! I don't know much about hair and Ethan was super helpful and friendly. I showed him what I wanted and he made recommendations based on my hair type and face shape. I'm glad I went with his recommendation because it turned out beautiful. The curls also kept well throughout the night. I highly recommend Ethan for any hair styling needs!

Samuel Rodriguez gives the best blow outs ever! I have curly hair and when visiting SF I know the humidity will make me look frazzled and frizzy, but I met Samuel at 8:30am and I walked out of the salon a different women. He’s friendly, knowledgeable with my hair type and gives a great scalp massage. Bonus points he works early so I look polished all day. Thank you Samuel, I’ll be back.

I dislike leaving poor reviews. But everyone around me at my best friend’s wedding said, “you paid $100 for your hair style?! What even did they do? It looks like nothing stayed together.”
When I look back, I was really disappointed with the services that I received - I was already stressed out because I was in the middle of editing my speech, so I really did not want to stress about my hair.
Truthfully, I felt like I was taken advantage of. I’m the type of person who doesn’t want to micromanage a stylist, and wants to trust their judgment and ability. However, I explicitly told the stylist she would have to leave my hair pinned in curls as my hair texture has a hard time holding curls, yet she seemed reluctant to do even that. And she did not. As a consequence, my hair fell apart within an hour.
Instead of listening to her clients and ensuring that they would be happy with the style and without any reassurance that it would last throughout the event, it seemed like she was focused on taking pictures of what she believes to look great. Which weren’t even the Hollywood waves, which I requested specifically a week in advance.
I would have happily paid $150-200 to another stylist to do the job, especially if they would listen to the client and incorporate feedback in order to provide an excellent service.
I would appreciate if you would reach out to me in terms of how to rectify this because after all pictures are forever and my hair didn’t even last the night.

Wouldn’t recommend. I asked for something simple and even had photos of myself with a blowout to show what I wanted. The stylist wasn’t helpful or accommodating at all and questioned everything I said/asked for. She had the same attitude with her next client too. I could have done a better job on my hair myself and had to redo it when I got home. Also I didn’t touch it or mess with it at all on the way home as advised, but it all fell out immediately. Luckily I had time before my nye event to fix it. Stylist was truly unfriendly and seemed like she didn’t want to be there. Wasted $140 and my time.

I had a wonderful experience with Ethan this week at Blowology! He was so professional, accommodating, and went above and beyond to make sure that my hair looked perfect. My blowout was great and I enjoyed every minute I spent in Ethan’s chair. Can’t wait to come back next I’m in SF!

It was my first day at a new job and I wanted to make a great impression with a blow out. Found blowology on google and was super easy to make an appointment. I believe the owner did my hair and she was absolutely lovely - space was beautiful. I also got a hand massage that was so relaxing. First day was a success and felt beautiful for the next 3 days - that’s how long the blow out lasted! Def will be back

I had a fantastic blowout with Ethan Yeetheng - I had a picture of what I wanted but he made it look even better, making recommendations for how the style would hold better. I also loved the option to get a complementary touch up after a few days. Ethan made everything so easy and he was also just a truly wonderful person! I will be definitely be back to see him next time.

I was in SF for a work conference and happened upon this amazing place. Gorgeous interior with a jazzy, speakeasy kind of vibe.
My hair stylist was Alison and she did an amazing job with my dry mess of hair. Within an hour and a half (and a mimosa later), I was feeling like a rockstar and looking like one too.
If I was in SF, I would definitely keep seeing Alison for my hair. Will see you guys next year for my annual pilgrimage!

Last week, I had my hair cut by Samuel and I couldn't be happier with the results. Not to mention the salon itself is lovely and is beautifully decorated.
Samuel was incredibly attentive to what I wanted done with my hair and took the time to explain what he doing as well. He first cut my hair dry, shampooed, and then went back in and cut in a more detailed way. I had layers that were looking a little choppy and he was able to blend them in so nicely.
If you want someone who listens to you and is very meticulous with their work, don't hesitate to book with Samuel!

I found Blowology on Yelp after a previous appointment with another salon had been randomly canceled. The appointment was for a bachelorette for four gals total. I cant remember who I spoke to on the phone, but she was cheery and kind and took down my information and we were all set.
About two weeks prior to the appt, I had to call back and reschedule the four of us because we had to postpone the bachelorette. Rescheduling was easy peasy and I got the updated emails immediately.
Leading up to the appt (about 3 days prior) I got an email, text message, AND phone call asking if we wanted to add makeup to our appointment. I said no all three times.
When you arrive, you need to call the salon and they have to buzz you in. This wasn't clear to us at the beginning but luckily we were able to get in the building. The elevator in this building is really cool! Kind of scary, but very special.
We were greeted immediately and we let the bride go first - about 15 minutes after our initial appt time. No worries though, we planned for a buffer time. The second gal went soon after, then we traded places about an hour later. Out of the four of us, I would say that one girl liked her hair a lot - the rest of us were complacent. Our hair ended up flattening out about two and a half hours later, and all we did was have one meal.
Now for the weird part: They took my CC # to book the appointment, totally fine and normal. When we wanted to pay the bill, someone just "went to the back," came back out and said "Ok you're all set!" And then went on to finish someone else's hair. We stood around confused because I didn't sign anything nor did i get a receipt. We didn't have enough cash with us to tip nicely so we just wandered out, confused. I had to look through my credit card info to find the total amount since I didnt get a receipt.
Six days later they email me like "haha oopsie you didn't tip, what would you like to give us, btw here's your receipt." I was out of town and didn't see the email on time I suppose, and so they just typed in my credit card information and automatically charged it. I came back to four email receipts saying my credit card was typed in manually.
It was about par with what I would've tipped anyhow, in fact I was going to tip more, however I was so shocked that they'd type in my number and choose the amount for me that I just ended up leaving the amount they chose. I wrote to them via email and they did apologize - but that is NOT the way to go. They could've easily given me a call or emailed again and I would've venmo-ed a tip ASAP.
Anyway, moderate to OK blowout, weird payment experience, and all in all not worth the hassle...but...as long as the bride was happy we were happy!

I called for a last minute appointment and they were able to fit me in within the hour. The space is gorgeous! Very old Hollywood glam, complete with ruby red curtains and a huge crystal chandelier.
Ticelee did a wonderful job of blowing out my hair and even took the time to pin the curls so they would be bouncy. I can't wait to go back!

My mom and I were in town for an event. We're so glad we stumbled upon Blowology! I can't say enough good things about Ethan (did my hair) or Ticilee (did my mom's hair) or the experience. We left the spa feeling so glamorous and practically glowing. Not sure when I'll be in SF next but I absolutely will look for an excuse to visit again!
