Arthur is a gem and a master at his craft! I was in the market for a new stylist (with an emphasis on short hair) and a colorist, who can rejuvenate a tired dark blonde. Finding someone who is as proficient in color as they are in cuts and styling can be a daunting task; I'm so glad I came across Arthur Sebastian Hair Salon! He's located in a vibrant location in Cow Hollow, and the Salon is hip, clean and comfortable. As a new client, he made the process so easy... from the consultation to actual appointment, he radiates warmth and professionalism. He's extremely experienced and very passionate about his craft, I was delighted when I left the salon with a beautiful natural-looking light blush blonde and a layered cut. I'm so looking forward to my next visit; I highly recommend you check him out.

I have been coming here for a few years now and always enjoy my experience & outcomes at Arthur Sebastian! He listens to my preferences and adjusts based on the natural style of my hair to fit to exactly what I'm looking for. Great at styling/layers - I also love the way my hair grows out after his cuts. I could not be happier and I highly recommend Arthur at Arthur Sebastian Hair Salon. I moved to San Francisco 3 years ago and finding Arthur made my transition so much easier. I have blond hair that darkened and grayed with age and it requires great skills to make it look lighter and natural. After loosing my trusted hair dresser of many years due to the pandemic, I had several new stylists attempting to and failing to achieve this look , thus making me quite unhappy. Arthur had performed magic and brought my hair back to my youthful natural color. He used appropriate highlights with the right shade of toner and created my new personal "California Blond" look. He is a talented professional, focused on achieving client's goals and making the process look effortless. I trust Arthur with my hair and I enjoy our stimulating conversations, an added bonus to a fun experience I always look forward to. Arthur is quite busy, so plan in advance and book your appointments at his chic boutique on Union Street early!

I had the most wonderful experience with Arthur! I have been trying to find the right person to cut and color my hair for a while and every person I have been to have left something to be desired but that all changed when I went to Arthur! His salon is comfortable and cute. We immediately began chatting like old friends the first time we met. And the hair cut and color was unmatched. I left the salon so happy with my cut and even a few months later it is growing out perfectly! I am thrilled to have found someone I can trust with my hair!

Arthur saved me from a hair disaster! I looked like my grandpa’s poodle after a bad haircut and highlights. My longtime stylist had moved away, and finding someone new was such a difficult transition—until I found Arthur.
He took the time to go over the mess my hair was in and, after just two sessions, my hair was back to looking amazing! He truly does wonders with highlights—my brown hair with blonde highlights looks natural and gorgeous.
What really impressed me was seeing his versatility. While I was under the dryer one day, a woman came in to show off her hair. She had dark hair and wanted it orange, and Arthur had nailed it—it was absolutely stunning.
Beyond his talent, Arthur is kind and interesting, making every visit a pleasure. Thank you, Arthur, for bringing my hair back to life! 💇♀️✨

Arthur did an exceptional job taking my frizzy and brassy hair and gave it a refreshed new life. I knew he was going to be good when he wanted me to stop by prior to my appointment to look at my hair a week or so before. His knowledge and experience shows in his work. My boyfriend has been going to Arthur for years and always has a hot, hip hairstyle. I wasn’t happy with my hair color from my previous stylist; it was getting too blonde and I needed a changed. I decided to see Arthur. I showed him a few Pinterest photos of cuts and colors I liked. Not only did he give me the EXACT color I was looking for, his cut was perfect. He knows his stuff well. He keeps up with all the latest techniques and trends in his industry. I highly recommend you book your next appointment with him!

I've been going to Arthur for as long as I've lived in SF after moving here from NYC, and I will for as long as he is here. Haircuts from Arthur are always perfect and grow out nicely for months. He recently put in blue highlights (I have dark hair) and did an incredible job, it still looks fantastic 3 months later. He blended the roots which I'd never seen before and the attention to detail shows.
There's really no one else like him around, very highly recommend!

Worst haircut I've had in 25 years -- and possibly ever. That was the first time I left a salon looking worse than when I arrived. I brought to the appointment a binder with multiple photo examples to illustrate exactly what I wanted for a layered cut and tapered bangs. What Arthur Sebastian gave me, though, was mostly a straight cut taking off some length, and bangs that were cut straight across, instead of tapered down to my cheekbones. How hard could that have been to do?! Truly astounding that the final result was so wildly off the mark.
To add insult (literally) to injury, he threw shade at an award-winning and prestigious SF salon I had patronized years earlier. He scoffed and rolled his eyes when I mentioned their name.
The only thing he did right was to avoid chopping off too much length.
Bottom line: under-performed and overcharged.
UPDATE:
I appreciate that the salon owner (Arthur Sebastian) responded quickly to my review and did the correct P.R. thing in offering to make things right. However, unless he is offering a full refund + tip for my visit (over a year ago), I don't see how he can make things right. There is no way I would ever let him touch my hair again. I'm finally growing it out and searching for a different salon. In fact, I don't even want the refund. I've moved on.
And, BTW, Arthur, "Camellia" is my Yelp alias; I did not register under that name so that's why you can't find it in your database. I also didn't mention in my original review that you did not abide by the CoViD protocols listed on your website. That was one of the factors I took into consideration in choosing your salon.
You are fortunate to (apparently) have so many satisfied customers. Perhaps you have found your niche. Unfortunately, I did not fit into it.
